Our Concept

For us, website design is translation. It starts with listening to you — just ask our past clients. As we begin to understand your goals and target audience, we supplement that understanding with research and more data. From page layout, colours, and design elements to the overall website structure and functionality, you’ll see your vision translated into reality with my attention to care and quality.

And we never stop listening, because at DESIGN YOKO, it’s personal.

About the Designer

For over a decade, I’ve been designing beautiful, professional, functional websites with a personal care and attention. I’m equally at ease discussing layout and colour with artists, technical details with IT engineers, and concepts with business people.

With a degree in English and linguistics from Tamagawa University, I began to develop my design skills in Temple University Japan‘s public relations office where I was responsible for marketing, counseling, and designing & coordinating promotional materials.

After relocating to Canada and completing the Graphic Design program at Humber College, I worked as a Production Artist for the Orangeville Banner newspaper and a Web Designer for Bits, a Japanese Magazine in Toronto. DESGIN YOKO is based on the result of all these experiences.

Starting 2016, Yoko works for IBM as a senior User Experience Designer for websites and mobile apps. At IBM, her projects include TD Bank North America (USA), Weston Foods, City National Bank Credit Card.

I believe giving back to the community. From fund raising for disaster relief to volunteering on various boards and professional public service, such as Japanese Social Services, Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre, New Japanese-Canadian Association, and Japanese Business Women’s Group in Toronto, I strive to share with and learn from the community. Working collaboratively with others towards a shared goal has always empowered and motivated me. I’m very grateful to all who’ve been there over the years!
